Specifications

A vortex beam is a beam with a continuous spiral phase. In other words, the wavefront of the beam is neither planar nor spherical, but rather vortex-like with singularities. The phase of the vortex beam changes around the optical axis in the form of a spiral of 2π integer multiples, and the light intensity at the centre of the beam is zero. Therefore, the vortex beam is also known as dark hollow beam, this optical vortex in the beam propagation process similar to the fluid vortex, there will be around the centre of the phenomenon of rotation.


Optical vortices are mainly used in optical micromanipulation techniques. Compared with traditional methods, optical micromanipulation has the characteristics of no contact, no damage, high reliability, high repeatability and high precision. Photons have their own unique advantages in the micromanipulation of mesoscopic particles.
